What were we thinking?

We are heading to Germany tomorrow. I was really excited and now I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. It seems like everytime we get a good savings started we go on vacation and end up spending WAY more money than we need to spend. It wouldn't be so bad if I knew that we were going to be over here for an extra year so that we could save more money before heading back to the states but the fact is, this is our last year and that means that come October what we have in savings is all we have in savings... and after this trip it won't be nearly as much as we wanted to have. And of course, as always... as soon as we plan a vacation we get slammed with the BIGGEST electricity bill EVER. This one was the worst of all. They are never really cheap by any means but this last one nearing $1000 was just insane. I am sick to my stomach over it. How in the world can it cost that much for 2 months worth of living? We don't even have central heat... we have these little wall mounted heaters that we can use if we need to. Which, we really only use at night. Oh well... I guess I just have to look at it as an opportunity to go somewhere that I probably won't go again once we leave this place. Right? Enjoy it and worry about money later. Right... easier said than done! What were we thinking?
